Can you refinance your home at any time?

You can refinance your home as often as it makes financial sense to do so.

When shouldn’t you refinance your mortgage?

  1. When you do not have plans to continue living in the property and/or are going to sell your property in the near future.
  2. When you have a low credit score. Your credit score plays a big role in determining what interest rate the bank will offer you. If you are currently on the lower end of the scale, it may be best to wait to until your score has improved.
  3. When you can’t afford it. While refinancing your mortgage can save you money and potentially assist you in paying off your loans, it is important to remember that the process costs money. You will need to pay out your lawyer, penalties, and possible title insurance fees. We suggest talking to your lender and having them assist you with calculating the cost of refinancing to determine if it is the right time for you to do so.
